Stockland is proud to announce the development of a state-of-the-art sports ground in the heart of central Providence. This $8.5 million facility will serve as a vital hub for local sports and recreation, catering primarily to cricket while also accommodating a full-size AFL field.

The new sports ground is designed to provide a high-quality experience for players, spectators, and the broader community. Features include professional-grade sports field lighting, a turf wicket, and a fully irrigated sports field with an innovative stormwater harvesting system. The facility will also include four practice wickets, terraced spectator seating, an amenities block, a maintenance shed, and ample off-road and overflow car parking.

Beyond the sports field itself, improvements will extend to the nearby dog park, with the addition of a new carpark and upgraded lighting along Harmony Crescent’s pedestrian pathway. These enhancements will contribute to a safer, more accessible, and well-connected community space.

The sportfields is located in a highly visible area along Centenary Highway, bordered by the Bundamba Creek habitat corridor and a recently constructed wetland system. Stockland has worked closely with the local authority to ensure a functional design that balances sports infrastructure with environmental considerations.

Sustainability is at the forefront of the design, incorporating features such as stormwater harvesting for irrigation, fauna-sensitive lighting to minimise impacts on local wildlife, and an agronomist-led approach to reusing existing topsoil. These measures will ensure the development supports both the sporting community and the surrounding natural environment.

The design and approval process for the sportsfield began in August 2021 with construction scheduled to commence in March 2025, with completion expected in late 2025. Key partners include CUSP, Morton Urban Solutions, CV Services, Engeny, Pinion, and J.Mac Constructions.

The sportsfield is set to become a premier destination for local athletes, sporting clubs, and families. With cutting-edge facilities, thoughtful urban design, and a commitment to sustainability, this project reflects Stockland’s vision of fostering thriving, connected communities.

Stay tuned for further updates as we move towards construction and the exciting opening of this dynamic new sports hub.
