Liveability at Mt. Atkinson

At Stockland, we know it takes a lot more than bricks and mortar to create connected, happy communities. Since 1952, we’ve been building communities that bring people together. Spaces filled with energy, soul, and life. Where houses become homes and neighbours become family. All in pursuit of our purpose, a better way to live.

Our annual Liveability Survey is one of the ways we bring this purpose to life. By measuring what matters, we can better understand and design our communities around the things our residents love. From the quality of parks and playgrounds to how community design supports healthy minds and active lifestyles. We recognise, what matters to one person can be very different to the next. That’s why we survey across a diverse range, including belonging, connection, health and fitness, safety, environment, and sustainability.

Earlier this year, Mt. Atkinson residents were invited to complete our 2024 Liveability Survey. The results are in. We've listened and here's what we're doing to make Mt. Atkinson better.

Creating spaces to enjoy

We’re pleased to share that we’ve recently completed construction on Mt Atkinson’s newest park located on Clara Avenue. This new park features a basketball court, BBQ facilities and shelter, flying foxes, slides, and other play elements inspired by the natural environment.

Stockland, in partnership with Melton City Council, is working through the necessary approvals to enable Stockland to deliver this proposed Sports Reserve located on Kirkpatrick Boulevard on behalf of Council. If everything proceeds as planned, we anticipate commencing construction on this proposed Sports Reserve in 2025^.

Improving connectivity

We know how important staying connected is, which is why we’re pleased to share that Opticomm completed a fibre network upgrade in July 2024. This upgrade is expected to improve the performance and reliability across Mt. Atkinson’s fibre network.

Additionally, Waveconn, a dedicated telecommunications infrastructure company, have been granted planning approval from the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT) permitting the construction of a new mobile telecommunications facility in the wider Mt Atkinson precinct. We’ll keep you updated as this progresses.

Enhancing safety within the community

To help foster a sense of safety and connection, we have committed to supporting the resident-initiated Neighbourhood Watch Group. The hope for this group is to spread awareness & build connections amongst neighbours to look out for each other.

Road Construction

We recently opened the 1.7km stretch of Grand Boulevard, connecting Mt Atkinson and Grandview between Clara Avenue and Altezze Drive.

We’re also working closely with Council and relevant authorities to advance the design and obtain approvals for the Kirkpatrick Boulevard and Mt Atkinson Road intersection. This intersection will ultimately connect Highline Boulevard in Grandview with Kirkpatrick Boulevard in Mt Atkinson. Pending approvals, construction of this new signalised intersection is expected to begin in 2025^.
