Featuring a mountain range backdrop and location with rich agricultural ties, it’s no surprise that Providence is known for its open green spaces. However, some may not be aware that there are a number of established wineries within the region of Providence. So, ‘wine not’ spend a beautiful afternoon exploring the region and supporting local businesses at the same time? Here are some of our favourite local vineyards to uncover…
IRONBARK RIDGE VINEYARD
With picturesque mountain views and located 16km from Providence in the town of Purga, is Ironbark Ridge Vineyard. Here you’ll find grape varieties including shiraz, viognier, nebbiolo and merlot. This vineyard also has a fascinating history linked to World War II, as it was used as a training camp for soldiers.

Nestled at the top of the hill at Harrisville village, overlooking the working vines and beautiful surrounds of the Scenic Rim, is Paradine Estate. Soak in the views on the homestead veranda or amongst the vines and enjoy country style hospitality at its finest. Paradine Estate is 30 kms from Providence.
FLINDERS PEAK WINERY

With inspiration from time spent in Italian wine regions, owner Lev Mizikovsky wanted to bring a piece of Italy back home by creating Flinders Peak Winery. Enjoying an incredible Flinders Peak position and complete with villa accommodation, this shiraz-based vineyard offers a wonderful selection of wines and spirits, and is also a favourite wedding venue. The vineyard is 25km from Providence.
If venturing further afield, 55km from Providence are the absolutely stunning vineyards at Hilldale Estate and Bunjurgen Estate, which are also definitely worth exploring. Don’t forget to have a designated driver before heading out to a winery, or better yet, book in to a Winery Tour – there are plenty of options to choose from online.
