A welcome addition to the Aura Park Trail
Aura wrapped up its 7th birthday celebrations with the opening of the much-anticipated Whale Park at a free public event enjoyed by the local community on Saturday 27 May. This latest park opening brings the total number of parks within Aura to 18.
The inspiration behind the design of Whale Park, and other proposed parks within Banya, is to celebrate a cross-section of local fauna found on the Sunshine Coast, from the beaches to the hinterland.
Josh Sondergeld, Stockland Project Director said that creating natural outdoor spaces to enhance liveability is a core commitment for Stockland in developing neighbourhoods of the future.
“The addition of Whale Park in Banya to the Aura Park Trail provides another opportunity for residents to gather, relax and play,” said Mr Sondergeld.
The centrepiece of Whale Park is a whale-themed playground designed to ignite the imagination and raise awareness of our unique local wildlife.
Whale Park offers a myriad of activities and amenities to ensure fun for all, with a basketball half-court, cycle loop for a leisurely bike ride and convenient BBQ facilities. The park has been designed with families in mind, with plenty of open green space, offering the ideal setting for picnics, family gatherings and kids' birthday celebrations.

Tobias Volbert, Playground Designer at Urban Play, said the whale play structure offers endless play opportunities.
“Whale Park is truly a place for the whole family, with something exciting for everyone!” Mr Volbert said.
At the official opening event, Aura locals were able to mingle with roving sea creatures, participate in a jellyfish-making workshop and learn about the amazing creatures that live in our oceans from the Sea Life Sunshine Coast team.
This latest park opening marks yet another milestone for Aura and its commitment to creating vibrant, family-friendly spaces for the community to enjoy.
