Shoreline's Jingeri Park makes Queensland's top 40 parks list
Jingeri Park has been listed as one of the top 40 parks in Queensland! We uncover the reasons why residents and visitors alike love exploring Shoreline’s Jingeri Park.
It’s official – Queenslanders love Jingeri Park!
Ranking number 15 on Quest News’ top 40 parks in Queensland list, you might be wondering – what is it about Jingeri Park that residents and visitors love?
We reveal the top four reasons why people love to visit Jingeri Park.
Playscapes for different ages and abilities
Jingeri Park is the first of its kind in the Redland Bay area, boasting an 8.5-metre lighthouse and jetty setup that is loaded with cool features like climbing walls, high-up platforms, swings, two ace slides, monkey bars, a slide pole, and nets for climbing.
For those that are keen on a game of basketball, there's a half-court to shoot some hoops and work up a sweat.
But wait, there's more! Jingeri Park allows visitors to have some chill out time too. Whether it's for a leisurely walk or run, there’s plenty of footpaths and green spaces to stretch out your legs. There's also a path that will eventually link up with the new primary school on Serpentine Creek Road and the waterfront at Redland Bay, making Jingeri Park connected to the amenities you want and need.
Connection to country
Did you know that Jingeri Park's name, mural and overall design pays special tribute to the relationship between Lendlease, local Custodians and the Shoreline community?
The park takes visitors on a journey, sharing connection with country, the sunset, the mangroves, the bright yellow cotton trees, all while following the Willy Wagtail, a messenger bird called ‘Jingeri Jingeri’ in Yugambeh language and a source of inspiration behind the park’s name. ‘Jingeri’, means ‘welcome’ or ‘greetings’ in the Yugambeh language.
The park’s mural project, titled ‘Jingeri Jingeri’ (located at the bottom of the park’s slide) was developed in collaboration with Shoreline’s children and First Nations artists from Yugambeh and Quandamooka Country. The kids then turned these stories into their own artwork, which was incorporated into the final mural. You can learn more about the mural here.
Proximity to the popular LeToria’s at Shoreline
It’s every parent's dream – a park next to a café! While the kids run, jump and explore, parents can grab a coffee and bite to eat while watching their little ones have the time of their life on Jingeri Park’s expansive playscape.
Letoria's is open every day from 8am and serves up coffee, juice, cakes, wraps and more! To learn about their café and trading hours, visit the LeToria’s at Shoreline Facebook page.
