As part of Stockland Aura’s Community Grants Program, more than $265,000 in funding was donated to 12 groups and organisations within the region that support the building of thriving, healthy communities and protect our local environment.

Grant recipient Coast2Bay Housing Group is a non-profit community housing provider, dedicated to offering affordable, safe, and suitable housing for individuals and families across the Sunshine Coast, Noosa, Moreton Bay, Redcliffe, and Gympie regions. The organisation’s key focus is on providing housing for people in need, those who might be on low incomes, or might have specific needs for community housing.

As an Aura Community Grants Program recipient, Coast2Bay benefited from $50,000 in funding to support delivery of the “Rise 2 Program”, delivering safe and secure accommodation for victims of domestic violence in the region.

Charlotte Buckley, Stockland Community Development Manager said that she was delighted that Stockland was able to assist Coast2Bay Housing Group, allowing them to continue to support people with this invaluable service and create such a positive impact in the region.

“Coast2Bay Housing Group do so much to transform the lives of individuals in our community, by providing a place to live for those in greatest need and promoting inclusivity and a sense of belonging,” said Ms Buckley.

“As developers, Stockland has more than 70 years of expertise in creating vibrant and connected communities.

“By investing in affordable housing, we aim to contribute to the stability and wellbeing of individuals and families and create places where everyone can thrive.

Coast2Bay Housing Group CEO, Andrew Elvin, said the organisation provided different services to public housing, with community housing designed to wrap some supports around the tenants and also provide them with an opportunity to engage in their neighbourhood, feel part of a suburb and feel really at home where they are.

“Aura's Community Grants Program has been really instrumental for us in establishing those support mechanisms,” said Mr Elvin.

“It’s really driving some change in this very complicated area of social policy.

“There's a significant and growing need for affordable housing for lots of low to moderate income workers and families in our region.”

Coast2Bay Housing Group provides a range of vital programs for vulnerable members in our community.

“The RISE program stands for ‘Restart in a Safe Environment’, specifically designed to help women and children impacted by domestic and family violence.

“The idea is to provide a temporary place for people to be and then provide some follow-on accommodation in the suburb where they are located, so that the children don't need to move school and the mum can get connected into the local community.

“They're not only in a safe environment but they have opportunity to put things back on track for themselves and their children.”

With the support of the community and Stockland, Coast2Bay Housing Group has been instrumental in creating homes on the Sunshine Coast, providing people with access to emergency accommodation right through to affordable housing, so they can restart their life.
