1. Baringa
Baringa is inspired by the Kabi Kabi word meaning “summit or little mountain”.
Baringa is a place that lies at the heart of the Aura masterplanned community. As Aura’s first suburb, Baringa is a vibrant neighbourhood town centre brimming with life. Baringa epitomises convenience and community living at its best with state-of-the-art medical facilities and recreational amenities like gyms and taverns.
2. Nirimba
Welcome to Aura's second suburb, Nirimba, influenced by the Kabi Kabi word for “in the middle”.
This burgeoning locale is in the heart of Aura with easy access to future schools and parks and a short cycle to the future City Centre. Nirimba promises an idyllic lifestyle where lush green spaces and modern amenities converge.
3. Bells Creek
Bells Creek is a natural creek that runs through Aura and enriches the community with its natural charm. The meandering creek was named after Mary Alice Bell who was governess to the children of explorer and pioneer William Landsborough. Mary Bell bought a portion of land south of the creek sometime in the mid-1800s.[i]
Today, Bells Creek creates picturesque views and provides residents with recreational opportunities such as fishing and kayaking.4. Banya
Aura's newest suburb is Banya. Banya is inspired by the name for “bunya nut” in the Kabi Kabi language.
For generations, First Nations peoples come together every three years in the Sunshine Coast’s Blackall Ranges and held a great feast called the Bunya Gathering.[ii] Thousands of people travelled from as far as Victoria and Western Queensland.ii During the feast, clans gathered, traded and performed ceremonies.
5. Acacia at Aura
Acacia, commonly known as wattle, is Australia's largest genus of flowering plants, with almost 1,000 species present in Australia.
Harmonising with nature, Acacia at Aura invites its residents to embrace a lifestyle of tranquillity and sustainability. Located in Banya and adjoining the Bells Creek Conservation Area, this precinct boasts leafy streets, towering trees and picturesque parklands, offering a serene ambience for those who call it home.
6. Gagalba
Gagalba was inspired by the Kabi Kabi word for “shining place” to reflect the lakes that will form the centrepiece of this suburb.
Gagalba is on track as Aura’s next precinct including a mix of homes, public parks and a business hub, all linked by Aura’s famous veloways. Located South of Banya, Gagalba’s landscape design will draw creative inspiration from water bodies such as waterfalls, rock pools, rivers and beaches
7. Halcyon
Halcyon means “a tranquil, peaceful time”. The word comes from Greek mythology, where the halcyon days were believed to be a period of calm and tranquillity during the winter solstice when the kingfisher bird (also called a halcyon) nested on the sea, calming the waves.
Halcyon Nirimba is designed to offer over 50s resort living where homeowners are invited to unwind, exercise, socialise and entertain, creating cherished memories against the backdrop of this idyllic landscape.
8. Brouhaha
In nthe late 18th century, Brouhaha was borrowed by the English language directly from the French word meaning “a noisy and over-excited reaction or response”. It’s a name that’s fitting for the beloved Brouhaha Brewery in Baringa.
