Halcyon Promenade has celebrated the grand opening of its new state-of-the-art Sports Hub with a lively Olympic-themed celebration.

Around 240 homeowners and homebuyers from the Moreton Bay community got into the spirit of the games by wearing vibrant green and gold outfits, creating a colourful scene.

Australian television presenter Denise Drysdale had the honour of cutting the ribbon to mark the official opening of the Sports Hub, which has a range of new facilities including a dance floor, an arts room, a bar and kitchen, a community garden, a barbecue pavilion, an outdoor deck, and a community courtyard with a fire pit.

The afternoon of fun kicked up a notch as guests were split into teams for friendly sports competitions at the three pickleball courts, two billiard tables, golf simulator and outdoor tennis tables, creating a lively atmosphere of camaraderie.

In exciting news for future residents, Halcyon Promenade will soon expand with the addition of around 200 new homes in the western section of the community – Halcyon Promenade West – in September this year.

Stockland Halcyon Communities Project Director, Andrew Astorquia, expressed his enthusiasm about the milestone, noting how these additions beautifully complement the existing popular features like the dog park, Spratt Park, and the recently opened Wellness Centre.

"The opening of the sports hub builds on the vibrant community’s existing facilities – a lap pool, gym, sauna, and yoga lawn – encouraging homeowners to keep a healthy, active and connected lifestyle,” Mr Astorquia said.

“The launch of Promenade West follows the near sell-out of the existing homes in Halcyon Promenade and reflects our commitment to investing in the growing Moreton Bay region. Once complete, Promenade West is expected to include an environmental reserve and connections to nature.

“The community continues to attract a diverse range of buyers, including those looking to downsize from larger homes in the city, those moving from interstate, and locals looking to make new friends and enjoy their retirement years in a tight-knit community with an impressive range of facilities.”

Jo-Anne Mbouche, Stockland Halcyon Community Manager, said Halcyon Promenade has become a popular choice for a range of public servants who have a strong sense of what it is to build, and serve, local communities.

“Among the new homeowners are retired firefighters, police officers, a pilot, a magistrate, and a superintendent,” Ms Mbouche said.

Their presence not only adds a valuable layer of trust and sense of security to the community but also reflects the diverse and inclusive nature of Stockland Halcyon Promenade.”

Retired police officer Gary Pearce, who moved to Halcyon Promenade in March, shared his excitement about the new sports hub.

Seeing so many people come together to enjoy the new sports hub is incredibly exciting. It’s fantastic to have a place where we can all gather for some fun and friendly competition,” Mr Pearce said.

“Having recently retired from the police force, staying active is a priority for me, so the sports hub means a lot. Hopefully, I’ve still got another 15 or so years of a very active lifestyle ahead, and having this space means I can keep up my daily exercise routine and have a lot of fun doing it.

“This is our first time living in an over 50s community, and initially, my wife Debbie was hesitant. We’re in our early 60s and wondered if we might be too young. But now, with so many activities on our doorstep and so much to do, Debbie says it’s the best move we’ve ever made.

“Debbie is getting back into swimming with the heated sun-protected pools, and I’ve volunteered to help new residents get acquainted with the gym and golf facilities - we already have 30 people signed up for pickleball.”

“We love the high-end facilities and how safe we feel in a gated community, plus there are endless social opportunities. We have a great bunch of neighbours that we see regularly at the street parties, and now we also have the Sports Hub as a central place to get together."
