Shark fin cupcakes

12 March 2020

Spice up your cup cakes with this Shark fin themed design. These easy to make bites of bliss are sure to be hit with those kids obsessed with these mystical creatures of the sea.

Ingredients

A vanilla cupcake mix from your local Stockland centre

White cooking chocolate

Blue food colouring

Black food colouring

Method

1) Take a saucepan and place over low heat and melt the white chocolate. Pour into a mixing bowl and add one drop of black food colouring. Stir until grey.

2) Line a large baking tray with baking paper and fill a small piping bag with the melted chocolate. Create the shark fins by carefully piping them onto the paper, being careful not to overlap the fins. Tip: if you’re worried about doing this free-hand, you can always trace your fins directly onto the baking paper.

3) Place in the fridge to set for 2-3 hours.

4) Meanwhile, follow the instructions of the cupcake pre-mix, but be sure to add some blue food colouring to the icing mixture.

5) Once the cupcakes have been baked and left to cool, ice them and carefully place the solid white chocolate fins into the top.

Caution: these white chocolate fins will melt in high temperatures, so be sure to get your snaps of them and let the kids choose one before the fins disappear!

Enjoy!

Fill the table with other tasty shark bites in various shades of blue and watch the feeding frenzy commence.
