Here are Miguel's top tips for creating the ultimate platter:
- Pre-slice your hard cheese for guests, so its easier for them to dig in.
- Don't just use "traditional cheese-board" cheese - use cheese like marinated goats cheese to easily slather on some crackers
- Fill your gaps with fruit like raspberries and salted nuts.
- We eat with our eyes too, so freshen up the board with different colours - grapes are a great add here.
- Freshen the palate with some sliced apple, it goes well against the fatty cheese.
- Structure the board by placing cheese down first as the foundation then fill in the gaps around it with the crackers, fruit and meats.
- Fresh fruit like passionfruit is a great alternative to pastes like quince.
- Lay down some brown baking paper as the base, this will help with the clean-up and it looks great too!
