Making our Mark: how to support Indigenous products at Stockland Point Cook

It’s Indigenous Business Month! A month dedicated to inspiring the next generation of First Nations’ business leaders, it’s all about promoting resilience, strength, advocacy, and determination in honour of and as an ode to the world’s oldest continuous culture.

For its 10th year in 2024, this year’s theme – ‘Making Our Mark’, acknowledges how Indigenous entrepreneurs have continually contributed to better communities, better opportunities, better relationships and better ways of doing business. So here at Stockland Point Cook, we would like to recognise some of the First Nations products that are making an impact across Australia and inspirationally paving the way for others to follow their business dreams.

So, what better time to buy products made and designed by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander businesses? Discover a selection of some of the amazing art, entertainment, and wellness products that you can buy from Stockland Point Cook.

Wellness

Bring traditional medicinal practices into your every day, by purchasing Native Secrets Australian Made Essential Oils! While you’re at Woolworths, pick up a bag of Dhuwa coffee beans – Australia’s first Indigenous-owned coffee brand. For the tea connoisseurs, you’ll find Ilan Style, Indigiearth and Warndu products all on Stockland Marketplace. If a new pair of glasses is on your radar, check out the Fred Hollows glasses featuring work of artists Tarisse and Sarrita King. The artwork, ‘My Country’s Story’ is a collaboration between the two sisters – the fusion of Tarisse King’s ‘My Country’ and Sarrita King’s ‘Language of the Earth’.

It is clear to see that First Nations’ businesses are making an impact but it’s your support we need to keep them going for generations to come. As we move towards the end of the month, we wish to encourage everyone to continue to celebrate Indigenous businesses through purchasing not only this month but all year round. And so, we leave you with one question: what actions are you taking, to make your mark?
