In 2021, Stockland has awarded $285,000 in grants to 285 local groups, clubs and programs across Australia who support health, wellbeing, community connection, education or local environment initiatives.
$5,000 has been awarded to five local community groups in the Perth Northern suburbs, these groups are; Alkimos Primary School, Butler Scout Group, Inner Wheel Club of Wanneroo, Wanneroo City Soccer Club and Yanchep United Football Club.
Judith Birchall, the Noongar Language teacher at Alkimos Primary School, said the grant would be used to purchase Indigenous artefacts as part of the school’s education program.
“Our school has introduced a Noongar language program, bolstering our student’s awareness and appreciation of the Aboriginal history and culture.
“Through the grant from Stockland, we have been able to acquire precious Aboriginal artefacts, including two boomerangs, a shield, wooded snake and boab nut. These items assist our teaching, providing the kids with a tangible, interactive experience that increases their engagement and understanding.”
The Stockland CARE Grants program, now in its eighth year, has distrusted over $2 million in funding to more than 2,000 local community groups nationally.
Stockland CARE Grants is an annual program run throughout communities located near a Stockland Retail, Residential or Retirement Living community, and provides local organisations with funding to help them establish more cohesive, inclusive and engaging programs.
