In partnership with The O Initiative, Stockland Haven in Melbourne’s western suburbs has installed an ‘O Fountain’ – a sculptural drinking fountain, providing filtered water for the community, and encouraging the use of reusable bottles.

Designed by local artist, Linda Goonan, the fountain is called ‘Juicy Fruits’, and was inspired by the rolling hills, fields, and farm life in Victoria, and brought to life in vibrant shades of pink, yellow and aqua.

Stockland Sustainability Manager, Penny Austin, said it was great to see the community come together and support the initiative.

“Over the past few months, we’ve been working with Linda and our residents on the design for the O Fountain, so it’s exciting to see it come to life,” said Ms Austin.

“The fountain provides access to clean, fresh water and encourages our residents to refill their water bottles. Its unique design also means it’s a great talking point for the community.”

Artist Linda Goonan said the design was partly inspired by the natural areas in the district, including Cherry Lake, Foreshore Reserve, and Werribee Gorge.

“Lockdowns helped us appreciate our local outdoors, and this fountain is intended to remind the community of its beauty,” Ms Goonan said.

“I want the fountain to embrace newly created and shared communal hubs which will bring strangers together. No matter Melbourne’s weather, the design’s vibrant landscape will always have blue skies and green grass.”

As part of Stockland’s sustainability strategy, Stockland has been partnering with The O Initiative to install drinking fountains across our communities nationally, promoting healthy, sustainable and circular living.

The O Initiative Founder and Creative Director, Gretha Oost, said she was thrilled to partner with Stockland to deliver the colourful O Fountain.

“The O Initiative believes engaging the community from the very start of the project, so there’s a shared ownership,” said Ms Oost.
