Stockland has increased its support for the Geelong United Basketball (GUB) association and will be the naming rights partner for the 2024 men’s and women’s National Basketball League semi-professional basketball league’s division one (NBL1) teams.

As one of the largest basketball associations in Australia, GUB supports around 1,000 community teams and more than 500 representative players. It is Geelong’s leading association for basketball, with GUB supporting grassroots basketball and providing young athletes with a pathway to NBL1.

Under the partnership, Stockland will also help reduce game costs and bolster funding towards the teams’ awards, facility management, customer service, referee retention and development, and first aid training.

Stockland Development Director Jackie Kent said Stockland is proud to be continuing its partnership with GUB and further investing in the development of community sport.

“For over 70 years, Stockland has been a leading creator of communities that are full of energy, soul and life. The NBL plays a role in bringing the Geelong community together, and we are proud to support the growth of basketball in the region via our ongoing partnership with GUB,” Ms Kent said.

GUB General Manager of Partnerships and Marketing Connie Bolger said the association is delighted to receive support from Stockland.

“We work hard to give back to our community, and having the support of local businesses is an important element in allowing us to do this. Stockland's partnership means we can focus on driving the growth of basketball in the region and increasing participation” Ms Bolger said.
