Lakeside is steeped in greenery and offers convenient access to some of the South West’s greatest parks and walking trails.  

Gledswood Hills Reserve
Spend a day exploring the Gledswood Hills Reserve*. The six-hectare site features various fitness stations, multi-courts and Insitu concrete skate areas for all to enjoy. With multiple shade areas and a lake, you can take a picnic and book to relax, or strap on your skates to explore the reserve.

Harrington Park Lake Loop
An easy 10-minute drive from Lakeside, Harrington Park Lake Loop* is excellent for walkers, runners, bicyclists, and dogs on a leash are welcome too. The trail is a 2.3km route that winds past tranquil waterside vistas. Teeming with bird life, the area is vital to local environmental sustainability and conservation. Considered an easy route, the loop takes around half an hour to complete.

William Howe Regional Park
Exploring dog-friendly William Howe Regional Park* in Mt Annan is a must-do, with views across the Razorback Mountains, extending to the Blue Mountains escarpment and beyond. Only a 10-minute drive from Lakeside, enjoy the spectacular views that are best from Turkey Nest Lookout, along the Loop trail. Locals also love the nearby Gundungurra Reserve walking trails which link with the William Howe Loop.

George's River Basin Walking Trail
Looking for a more challenging adventure? The George's River Basin Walking Trail near Kentlyn is an out-and-back 2.6km trail, taking 45-minutes to complete. It begins and ends at the parking area at the end of the Georges River Road and forms part of the 76-hectare Keith Longhurst Reserve*. The reserve also features the old Ford Road Walking Trail, which boasts a popular waterhole and small waterfall. Prepare for an adventure, all just a 20-minute drive from Lakeside. 


Bellbird Walking Track
Immerse yourself in the sounds of nature on the 1.6km Leacock Regional Park* track. Feel the temperature drop as you join Bellbird Walking Track and stroll beneath the forest canopy. Listen out for the bell miners and whip birds and their delightful chorus. Joggers and cyclists also love Leacock Park’s paths along the Georges River and Glenfield Creek.
