Stockland Forest Reach hosted its first Big Machine Day event on Sunday 10 March, showcasing the machinery shaping the future masterplanned community located in Huntley, in the Illawarra region of New South Wales.

Over 1,000 people attended the family friendly and free event, which provided an opportunity for children and families to get up close to the excavators, dozers and dump trucks that WEM Civil are using to build the Stockland Forest Reach community.

Children played on construction themed mini-trucks and participated in activities in a dedicated sandpit construction play zone, all with mini-hard hats and hi-vis vests provided by Junior Tradies. The event also included live music and entertainment, food stalls, refreshments and showbags.

Guests on the day were able to observe a moving Welcome to Country with a Smoking Ceremony to acknowledge Dharawal Elders, Leaders and community.

Stockland’s key builder partners were also in attendance, giving guests the opportunity to talk about their future homes or options to build a new home.

Stockland Project Director, Mike Milligan, said he was delighted to welcome future residents and the wider Illawarra community to Stockland Forest Reach.

“The first Big Machine Day at Stockland Forest Reach was a huge success, and it was great to see so many local families get up close with the big machines and equipment being used in the construction of the community,” Mr Milligan said.

“Stockland Forest Reach offers residents a broad range of affordable and quality homes suitable for first homebuyers and young families through to those looking to upgrade. There are also plans for a Stockland Halcyon community within Forest Reach, designed for over 60s looking to enjoy an active lifestyle within a connected community.”

Set across 113 hectares at the base of the Illawarra Escarpment, Forest Reach will feature three distinct neighbourhoods, with around 656 residential homes, two proposed parks, and a 4.7-hectare riparian open space inclusive of walking and cycle paths.

The masterplan includes a variety of living options to suit different lifestyles, with standard and larger residential lots, future townhomes and a Stockland Halcyon land lease community.

In NSW, Stockland Halcyon communities are designed for over 60s looking to enjoy an active, lock-up and go lifestyle within a connected community. Stockland Halcyon homeowners pay no exit fees (deferred management fees) or refurbishment costs.

Located just 18 kilometres south-west of Wollongong CBD, Stockland Forest Reach is close to transport, shops, schools and parks.

The Stockland Forest Reach sales office is located at 399 Bong Bong Rd in Huntley.
