#AcceleratingAction for gender equality in the workplace

International Women’s Day (IWD) 2025 is a powerful reminder that while progress has been made, there is still much to do. This year’s theme, ‘Accelerate Action, calls for swift and decisive steps to close the gender gap and remove systemic barriers that hold women back, both in personal and professional spheres.

The importance of workplace gender equality
Creating gender-equal workplaces helps attract and retain top talent, improve employee satisfaction, and enhance overall business performance. However, challenges persist, particularly around representation in leadership roles and closing the gender pay gap.

Every organisation has a role to play in driving change, and small, meaningful steps can lead to lasting impact.

Actions we are taking to reduce the gender pay gap
We continue to build on our work to increase the representation of women at senior levels and recognise that further improvement will come from building a sustainable pipeline of women in revenue roles, nurturing their development, and supporting their career advancement. This remains the focus of our gender equity strategy.

We are increasing the proportion of women in leadership roles through initiatives such as our 40:40:20 campaign, the proportion of women at the Senior Management level has increased from 38.5% to 47.4% since 2021-22. Taking action together
Through partnerships with organisations focused on preventing workplace discrimination, leadership campaigns aimed at increasing gender balance at all levels, and participation in coalitions tackling systemic barriers, real progress is being made.

This International Women’s Day, let’s take a moment to reflect on the steps we can all take—big or small—to create more inclusive workplaces. A great way to engage is by supporting the #AccelerateAction movement, which calls on individuals and organisations to actively push for gender equality.

Celebrating your people

Across our workplaces, we’re celebrating IWD in ways that reflect this commitment. At Optus Centre, we’ve partnered with Elevate the Women’s network at Optus on an International Women’s Day breakfast with keynote presenter Kath Koschel, founder of The Kindness Factory. In the spirit of this theme, Stockland donated 20 copies of Kath Koschel’s book to giveaway as Random Acts of Kindness

At MPark, we’re offering professional head shots, empowering individuals to put their best foot forward in their corporate careers, elevating personal brands with tips & tricks. These initiatives serve as reminders that fostering an inclusive and supportive workplace culture starts with small, meaningful gestures.

By working together, we can foster positive change that benefits everyone. Let’s step forward in solidarity and #AccelerateAction for gender equality.
