We talk to Genevieve Vu, architect at DC8 Studio, the designers behind Stockland Halcyon Gables, as she explains how the community has come to life.
“It’s about place and locality, where you are in the world. Every community has a unique sense of identity,” says Genevieve.
Stockland Halcyon Gables was conceived to blend the charming, laidback and rural Hills lifestyle with the connectivity and variety offered by urban living within The Gables masterplanned community. Many of the new homebuyers at Halcyon Gables are active over 60s who have been looking to downsize without compromising on the quality of the property or conventional ownership. The sense of security and connection at Halcyon Gables is also appealing, and its design was not by accident.
“Halcyon communities foster friendships with neighbours and are inviting and welcoming to friends and family. The design of the homes and streets accommodate these relationships and provide spaces for homeowners to build their own rituals and memories,” says Genevieve.

“In a regular community estate, the streets can be dismissed as a potential place for social connection, but we have found that within a thriving community, the opposite is true,” says Genevieve.
“The Halcyon Gables streets are designed as an extension of the home and the community, and are considered as active spaces of connection and socialising with friends and neighbours.”
The resort-style facilities at Stockland Halcyon Gables only add to the appeal of the community, with a library, games room, arts studio, sauna, bowling green, and 25-metre heated mineral pool integrated into the design.
