New homeowners and potential buyers recently gathered for lunch to connect and celebrate Stockland Halcyon Gables’ first foundation release, ahead of moving to the community they’ll soon share.

“We were pleased to see so many of our new homeowners and potential buyers attend the foundation release event for Stockland Halcyon Gables,” says Andrew Oughtred, Sales Professional at Stockland Halcyon Gables.

“The community is specifically designed for those over 60 looking to continue living an active lifestyle, and with 60 percent of homes in this release already sold, the community is continuing to grow.”

Denise and Ian Arnott, who have purchased a home at Halcyon Gables, have lived in The Hills district for more than 20 years. When it came time to downsize, they didn’t want to stray far from the area.

“When we were looking for something new, a friend told us they were building this community at the end of their street, so we enquired and thought yes, we could fit into that quite nicely,” says Denise.

Under Stockland Halcyon’s land lease model, homeowners can enjoy conventional ownership with the advantage of less maintenance and more living. There are no exit fees or stamp duty, so when it does come time to sell, homeowners can keep the capital gains. The resort style facilities are another benefit that Denise and Ian are looking forward to taking advantage of.

“We like to keep moving at our age, so quite a lot of our activities are outside at the moment. We’ll be able to roll across the road and join our aerobics classes and whatever’s going on at The Lodge as well,” says Denise.

While Denise isn’t yet convinced about taking to the pickleball courts, there’s plenty to choose from at Halcyon Gables, with a library, games room, arts studio, sauna, bowling green, and 25-metre heated mineral pool expected to open within the community.

Like many of the new homeowners at Halcyon Gables, Denise and Ian see great value in the safety and support system on offer, so they feel secure in the choice they have made to join the neighbourhood.

“If anything happens to either one of us, you’ve got a community there,” says Denise. “There’s also quite a few of our friends that have put their names down to enquire."

Pauline and Dominic Vozzo are also making the move to Halcyon Gables, after carefully considering their next stage of life. They feel buying a home at Halcyon Gables is not only a smart financial decision, but an important one for their future.

“While Halcyon Gables is a land lease community, the home still has strong capital gains growth potential, which was a benefit that really stood out to us when considering our options and future financial position,” says Pauline.

It was also important for the pair to move somewhere they can continue to build social connections. Dominic used to work in commercial radio, and is “very sociable” according to Pauline.

“I think the good thing is that once you go into an area like the Halcyon communities, you tend to meet new people,” says Dominic.

The pair have already started to form connections with other homeowners. Pauline and Dominic met Christine and Graham Benjamin at the first information session about the community. They’ve become fast friends, and will soon be neighbours, having serendipitously selected sites next door to each other.

We’d already picked out the site that we wanted, and while we were talking to them, we realised they happened to pick out the site next door. It’s really nice to meet the other people,” says Christine.

Collectively, the new homeowners are looking forward to getting as involved as they like with the activities on offer.

“All of the facilities are a little bit more upmarket, so we’ll really be able to enjoy the spaces,” says Dominic.

The sense of connection at Halcyon Gables is already being felt throughout the buying process. So many of the new homeowners have shared their journey with loved ones, brought friends to information sessions, or referred others through the Stockland Halcyon Referral Program

Within this blossoming community, it seems only natural that more neighbours at Stockland Halcyon Gables will connect and become friends.
