Foundation Fortnight a hit for charity

Touched by Olivia butterfly wings and Redkite kites took flight at our offices, shopping centres, retirement villages and communities across Australia as part of our annual Stockland CARE Foundation ‘Foundation Fortnight’.

From 2 – 15 October 2017, our employees joined forces with suppliers, customers and residents to raise funds and awareness for the work of our charity partners. Contributions to the Stockland CARE Foundation directly support Touched by Olivia’s delivery of inclusive playspaces and Redkite’s provision of services for families supporting children and young people with cancer.

Michael Rosmarin, Stockland Chief Operating Officer, said “Foundation Fortnight is a fantastic couple of weeks that bring to life our values; when our people get to enjoy shared experiences and contribute to such important causes”.

Events over the fortnight were held across Australia where our employees, residents, and customers came together for a common purpose:

  • 35 of our shopping centres hosted ‘CARE Day’,
  • 14 Retirement villages hosted ‘Family Day’, and
  • Our residential communities held activities inviting our residents to get involved, raising funds and awareness for our partners.

When all was said and done, over $145,000 was raised over the two weeks, which will supplement the Stockland CARE Foundation’s annual $200,000 donation to our two charity partners. An additional donation of $100,000 was made to Touched by Olivia by MJH Multi as part of a long-term partnership at our Elara residential community.

On hearing the results, Touched by Olivia Executive Officer Bec Ho said, "We cherish our friendship with Stockland. It goes beyond the creation of inclusive communities. The financial support we received from CARE Foundation helps us on our mission of making sure every child can play in their neighbourhood. Foundation Fortnight is an awesome concept; the teams really think outside of the box about ways to engage the Stockland staff in putting the fun in fundraising".

Tyler Juel, Redkite National Partnerships Manager, said "Foundation Fortnight gives us an amazing opportunity to leverage Stockland’s strong community network so that we meet customers and community members, and raise awareness of our work. The important funds raised through the CARE Foundation will ensure children and young people with cancer have access to Redkite's essential services from the hospital bedside to the family home”.

We sincerely thank our customers, residents, suppliers and employees for coming together to support the Stockland CARE Foundation and such worthy causes.
