UDIA Award

11 November 2019
Stockland’s Oceanside community, located on the Sunshine Coast, has received top honours at the prestigious 2019 UDIA Queensland Awards for Excellence. This waterfront community stands out for its innovative blend of residential, health, retail, commercial, and educational spaces, embodying the outdoor lifestyle synonymous with the Sunshine Coast.

Positioned to become “Australia’s healthiest city by the beach,” this thriving 140-hectare development secured the title of Queensland’s Best Master Planned Development. Mark McMahon, Stockland’s Senior Development Manager, emphasized that Oceanside represents meticulous planning and a unique vision.

“We are truly honoured to receive this prestigious industry award. Oceanside leverages its idyllic location to create a community unlike any other in Queensland—a lifestyle destination poised to be a landmark for health and medical excellence.”

Oceanside ranks among the largest infrastructure projects ever undertaken on the Sunshine Coast, delivering over $350 million in essential transport and community infrastructure, including roads, bridges, parks, and services.

Encompassing Birtinya and Bokarina Beach residential precincts, the Sunshine Coast Health Precinct, Birtinya Town Centre, and Kawana Business Village, Oceanside maximizes opportunities associated with the Health Precinct and future public transport corridors. It serves as a key economic driver, fostering employment and growth in the region.

Notably, Oceanside introduces several Australian firsts, including a commercially operated multi-storey car park that achieved a 15% net reduction in parking requirements for the SCHP.

Sustainability is integral to the community, with over 50% of Oceanside dedicated to parks, conservation areas, wetlands, and Lake Kawana. Extensive waterfront walkways, bikeways, boardwalks, and bridges connect residents and visitors throughout the development.

As one of Queensland’s most prosperous and liveable destinations, Oceanside offers diverse living options—from lakefront homes to chic urban terraces, townhomes, and modern apartments, catering to various lifestyles.

Upon completion, Oceanside will house more than 15,000 residents and emerge as a significant regional hub for medical services, education, research, employment, and retail activities.
