Digging deep into safety

SEE Civil isn’t just moving dirt and building waterways — they’re also digging deep into safety. As a construction and engineering company based on the Gold Coast, SEE Civil takes workplace safety seriously, and they say their partnership with Stockland brings an extra layer of rigour to the job.

"We’re always looking for ways to enhance our health and safety practices, so we’re more than happy to explore the safety regimes of partners like Stockland to see how we can improve our own,” says Adam Boston, Workplace Health and Safety Manager at SEE Civil.

"What works well for our clients can work well for us," Adam says.

When it comes to safety standards, Stockland doesn’t just tick boxes — it rewrites the rulebook. Stockland’s Standards of Safety (SoS) framework targets high-risk activities like working at heights, excavation, live services, scaffolding, and traffic management. These standards aren’t just for Stockland employees; they extend to contractors and partners on their projects, like SEE Civil, who can access the guidelines online, alongside resources, incident reporting, and feedback channels.

For SEE Civil, safety compliance is at the cornerstone of their operations and an integral part of the brand. "We don’t see it as red tape," Adam says. "It’s about raising the bar and keeping our standards high."

With Stockland and SEE Civil on the same page, the safety-first mindset becomes a shared language. “The working environment between contractor and client is vital,” Adam adds.

“Being transparent and aligned on safety expectations is key, and it’s something we’ve certainly achieved with Stockland.”

Making sure everyone returns home safely, every single day, is a critical priority for both organisations.

When SEE Civil is on the job, the dirt
isn't the only thing being dug up — safety standards are too, and they’re reaching new heights together.
