Stockland brings all-electric medium density living to Beaconsfield
Stockland has launched a new $250 million all-electric medium density community, Stockland Nara, in Beaconsfield located three kilometres south of Fremantle and near the iconic South Beach. The community is the first medium density precinct in the area.
Stockland Nara is expected to comprise around 206 architecturally designed two-three storey townhouses on the corner of Naylor Street and Clontarf Road with each townhouse designed by Perth based architecture firm Plus Architecture.
Northerly Group has been appointed the builder for stages 1 and 2 of Stockland Nara and works are currently underway.
The community follows the success of Stockland’s first standalone medium-density project in Western Australia, Stockland Canopy, located in Glendalough, which was launched in 2020 and has since won the Urban Development Institute of Australia’s Best Medium Density Development award at the 2022 WA Awards for Excellence.
Stockland General Manager, WA Development, Col Dutton expects the community will see strong demand from buyers who want to experience the Fremantle lifestyle.
“There is a significant market for medium density housing in the Fremantle region – from first homebuyers to young families, downsizers and upgraders, and those looking to enjoy their retirement close to the beach,” Mr Dutton said.
“Residents will have the vibrant ‘Freo lifestyle’ at their doorstep. The community is surrounded by the best of Fremantle’s cafes and dining, retail, and entertainment, meaning everything is an easy stroll away, with easy access to transport links, too.
“Stockland Nara balances urban convenience with coastal charm and caters to the increasing demand for well-located, medium density housing options in Western Australia,” Mr Dutton added.
Typical lot sizes are expected to range from approximately 102 square metres to 168 square metres, providing 14 different housing designs to cater to a wide range of Western Australians.
Plus Architecture Director Will Schofield, who resides in the Beaconsfield area, said the homes in Stockland Nara complement Beaconsfield’s character, while embracing and enhancing the relaxed lifestyle of local residents.
“The architectural design draws inspiration from the industrial history of the site and the unique qualities of the local neighbourhood, resulting in a contemporary yet intimately connected extension to the established community,” Mr Schofield said.
Stockland Nara’s masterplan focuses on creating a highly liveable community by incorporating more than 7,500 square metres of leafy public space in the community.
Stockland was granted subdivision approval for the 4.68-hectare site by the WA Planning Commission in November 2023 and obtained approval of a Local Development Plan in November last year. A sales office will open at the site early 2025.
