East Coast Commercials opens new centre at Aura Business Park

07 August 2019

Motor vehicle dealer East Coast Commercials is the latest established Sunshine Coast business to move into Stockland’s thriving Aura Business Park, with the recent opening of an exciting state-of-the-art showroom and reconditioning centre.

The business plans to expand as Aura grows and the move aligns with Stockland’s vision for the community as a highly connected city where people can work, live, and play.

More than 200 permanent jobs have already been delivered at Aura in industries ranging from education to home-based services, in addition to construction nearing completion on its first shopping centre.

The under-roof area alone of the new East Coast Commercial premises, at 17 Packer Road, Baringa, spans 900 square metres and can accommodate as many as 45 vehicles. It also features a suite of sustainable innovations reducing power and water consumption.

Matthew Byrne, Sunshine Coast Senior Economic Development Manager at Stockland, said he was delighted to welcome East Coast Commercials to the business park, where construction is continuing to gain momentum.

“We are thrilled to see our vision for the Aura Business Park taking shape and to see well established firms such as East Coast Commercials recognising our innovative new employment and economic hub as the place to be on the Sunshine Coast,’’ Mr Byrne said.

“It is an exciting time with East Coast Commercials among a swathe of businesses now opening at the park, with many more planning to open before the end of the year.

“We are continuing to receive strong interest from a diverse range of buyers attracted to its central location adjacent to Aura as well as the outstanding value for money that it offers.’’

Peter Trevethan, Dealer Principal at East Coast Commercials – Sunshine Coast, said the move into Aura Business Park represented an exciting new era for the business.

“We are presently working on increasing our stock to cater for what I believe will be a higher demand, as Aura is developing very quickly. This will no doubt lead to us increasing our staff,’’ Mr Trevethan said.

“Aura is a very dynamic community and with its future population of 50,000, the value for money here at the business park, the close proximity to the Bruce Highway and the size and quality of our new premises, it is money well spent for us.

“The move to a position next to the Bruce Highway is a strategic one for us as it facilitates the easy transfer of vehicles between our three southeast Queensland outlets, as well as being highly visible and straightforward for customers to find.’’

East Coast Commercials has been operating in southeast Queensland for 30 years and on the Sunshine Coast for 17 years. The business operates in conjunction with two other outlets at Acacia Ridge in Brisbane and the Gold Coast.

The $215 million Aura Business Park is the first of two business parks planned for the $5 billion Aura masterplanned community, and is expected to generate around 3,000 new jobs when complete.

The business park will comprise 180 light industry lots up to 4,000 square metres, large format showrooms and two commercial sites. It is one of the first business precincts in Australia to have access to the nbn™ Enterprise Ethernet, offering the highest internet speeds in the nation, with 2GB of dedicated bandwidth per lot.

Designed to accommodate a range of uses including light industry, warehousing, manufacturing and bulky goods as well as showrooms, commercial office space, indoor sports and recreation facilities, the business park is in a highly connected location adjacent to Bells Creek Arterial Road.
