Awards flow as Willowdale named best masterplanned community in Australia

Stockland’s popular Willowdale community in Denham Court has been recognised as the best masterplanned community in both New South Wales and Australia after winning two separate industry awards.

Willowdale was named the winner of the Masterplanned Communities award at the 2018 Urban Development Institute of Australia (UDIA) NSW Awards for Excellence, as well as receiving the national 2018 Urban Taskforce Development Excellence Award for Masterplanned Community Development.

Willowdale is one of Stockland’s largest masterplanned residential communities in NSW and offers a range of affordable modern living options in an established neighbourhood containing a retail centre and multiple parks. It is also well connected to public transport including a bus service throughout the community.

The community has been accredited with the internationally-recognised 6 Star Green Star – Communities rating for its world-leading design excellence, innovation and environmental stewardship as well as future economic prosperity and liveability.

Richard Rhydderch, NSW General Manager of Residential Communities at Stockland, said Stockland was thrilled to win the coveted UDIA and Urban Taskforce Development awards recognising Willowdale’s success.

Launched in 2013, Willowdale is already home to more than 1,500 families and features include innovative townhomes, completed homes, retirement living, a community centre, sports facilities and a proposed new primary school.

The community is ideally located 15 kilometres from Liverpool, is close to major road links such as the M5 and M7 motorways, allows easy access to Parramatta and Sydney Airport, and is a short, five-minute drive to the new Leppington Train Station.

Willowdale Shopping Centre, featuring a new-format Coles and speciality stores, opened in late 2017, and the community also features numerous walking trails, parks and open spaces, and exercise facilities.

The community is also home to the state-of-the-art Willowdale Community Place, a sustainable house rated 8 stars under the Nationwide House Energy Rating Scheme (NatHERS), which functions as a community centre for playgroups, fitness sessions and DIY workshops.
