Construction has commenced on Stockland’s Gables Town Centre, a new shopping hub at the heart of its master planned community, The Gables, located in Sydney’s bustling north-west corridor. This development marks a significant milestone for Stockland, reflecting its strategy to establish neighbourhood town centres within its master planned communities.

The Gables Town Centre will feature a full-line 3,800 square meter Woolworths supermarket as its anchor tenant. Additional amenities include a childcare centre operated by Nido Early School, a medical centre and pharmacy, a gym, and various specialty shops, along with diverse food and dining options.

This project is the first in Stockland’s renewed initiative to create community-centric town centres. Plans are already in place for similar developments in other Stockland communities across Australia, such as Providence in Queensland and Sienna Wood in Western Australia. This follows the successful opening of the Baringa town centre at Stockland’s Aura master planned community in Queensland in 2019.

Kylie O’Connor, CEO of Investment Management at Stockland, expressed enthusiasm about this new phase for Stockland’s retail sector. "The retail mix we’re curating at our newest town centre is based on feedback from residents. We’re excited to start construction on Gables Town Centre and bring a range of food and beverage options, health and wellbeing services, and specialty stores that the community will love, all anchored by Woolworths,” said Ms. O’Connor.

She emphasised that Stockland continues to build on its legacy of creating thriving communities. "Stockland Gables will become a destination for the community to come together, relax, and enjoy a meal while overlooking a future four-hectare lake next to the town centre," Ms. O’Connor added.

Woolworths’ New South Wales Property Portfolio Manager – Leasehold, Brad Karge, echoed this excitement, highlighting the benefits for the local community. "Customers will have the opportunity to shop in-store from a range of everyday essentials or place an order for Direct to Boot or home delivery. This modern Woolworths supermarket will create a number of jobs throughout construction and ongoing, to complement and support a growing region of Sydney," said Mr. Karge.

The Gables community, which currently houses nearly 4,500 residents, is expected to grow to around 13,000 residents upon completion, catering to first homebuyers, young families, and retirees. The new town centre is anticipated to commence trade in early 2026.
