Stockland Welcomes DP World: Enhancing Logistics Excellence at Yennora Intermodal Terminal
As a leading creator and curator of connected communities, we understand the critical role strategically located logistics facilities play in servicing the needs of growing populations.
The Yennora Intermodal Terminal in western Sydney is one of the largest distribution centres in the Southern Hemisphere, seamlessly integrating rail and road transport to facilitate goods movement along the Southern Rail Line with access to Sydney’s major arterial road network and Port Botany.
We recently celebrated our new partnership with global logistics company, DP World, at Yennora Intermodal Terminal with an official ribbon-cutting ceremony to mark the launch of their new rail service. DP World will offer direct rail services to and from Port Botany reducing up to 160 truck trips each day, handling an annual rail capacity of 160,000 20-foot cargo shipping containers, in addition to the warehouse space it manages.
The significant milestone will enable DP World to provide an integrated supply chain solution across its landside operations, contract logistics and freight forwarding. By enhancing its logistics capabilities, it will provide cost efficiencies, reduce transit times, and improve supply chain resilience.
Tarun Gupta, our Managing Director and CEO expressed his enthusiasm “We’re delighted to be a partner in DP World’s growth strategy in Australia and proud to support the launch of their rail business at Yennora. The terminal’s direct connection to ports, roads, and rail enhances the logistics capabilities businesses need to serve their customers. Its scale enables DP World and its clients to capitalise on the region’s growing economic opportunities.”
This strategic partnership also includes ongoing collaboration on a new masterplan for the Yennora Intermodal Terminal, combining DP World’s global freight and logistics expertise with Stockland’s land-use planning and development capabilities. Our vision for the estate includes large-scale redevelopment with multi-storey warehousing and an upgraded intermodal terminal, poised to strengthen Sydney’s logistics infrastructure, and is part of our $6.5 billion1 national logistics development pipeline.
Our proposal to grow and modernise the Yennora Intermodal Terminal represents a long-term opportunity to ensure efficient movement of consumer goods across Sydney, supporting local jobs and the broader NSW economy.
Nicolaj Noes, Executive Vice President, Oceania, DP World, echoed this sentiment “At DP World, we are establishing our own assets and building infrastructure where it’s needed to create seamless connections and provide increased control and flexibility. Our partnership with Stockland and expanded presence at the Yennora Intermodal Terminal means that we can offer services that suit the growing needs of our customers, and they can better rely on us to ensure their goods are delivered in a timely manner.”
The partnership between Stockland and DP World at Yennora Intermodal Terminal marks a notable step forward in bringing the vision for Yennora to life, as we work towards meeting the critical demand for logistics space across the eastern seaboard.
