Originally hailing from the United Kingdom, Nick (64) and Debbie (68) are are getting ready for their next move from Tasmania across the pond.

Having recently purchased at Halcyon Horizon, the couple can’t wait to start their next chapter when they move into their new home next year.

“We moved out from the UK in 2005 and lived in Adelaide for a year before hitting the open road and travelling around Australia in our caravan for the next 10 years,” Debbie says.

“We then settled in Tasmania on a large block of land and built our current home.”

“However, living on ‘the island’ makes our caravan adventures quite expensive, having to use the ferry back and forth.

It was with this in mind that the couple decided to explore their options on ‘the mainland’.

“We’ve spent quite a bit of time in Victoria and particularly around the Bellarine Penninsula, so we started exploring our options,” Nick says.

“After checking out some retirement villages in the region, we agreed we’re not that old yet and happened across Halcyon Horizon.”

“The rest is history as they say!”

“The biggest appeal for us was the security and the ability to lock and go on a whim, to travel in our caravan, he says.

Debbie agreed, saying she and Nick tend to get itchy feet.

“We also like to go back to the UK every 18 months or so, so being close to an international airport will be amazing,” Debbie says.

While Nick and Debbie agree that continuing to travel is priority once they move in, there were other considerations that factored into their decision.

“Halcyon Horizon has no exit or deferred management fees and this was a huge deciding factor for us, especially when we were exploring our options and considering alternatives,” Debbie says.

The couple is also looking forward to making the most of the resort-quality facilities at Halcyon Horizon.

“I’ve played a lot of tennis in my time and like to keep active, so am keen to try pickleball as well as make good use of the gym and swimming pool,” Nick said.

Debbie is excited for the new opportunities that community living will provide them.

“Nick and I can do as much or as little as we like as well as connect with other likeminded people in the community.”

“We definitely don’t have any regrets and are very excited about our decision,” Debbie said.
