Celebrating one year of community

Halcyon Promenade has celebrated a significant milestone – our first birthday! The 'Party in the Park' on July 3 brought together homeowners for an afternoon of fun, laughter and pizza, complete with a sneak peek at the new Sports Hub facility.

Halcyon Promenade Community Manager Jo-Anne Mbouche said the celebration had her reflecting on the progress made in the community over the past year and the exciting developments on the horizon.

‘While the rain has meant it’s a ‘Party in the Display Home’, it’s a real full circle moment to be here today,” Jo-Anne says.

"A year ago, I was conducting homeowner handover appointments right here in this display home. We had a temporary office on the hill and hadn’t even moved into our main office yet. Now, seeing the community blossom before our eyes is truly fantastic.

“Having the Wellness Centre open and knowing we're just weeks away from the grand opening of the Sports Hub is simply amazing."

Homeowners received a tour of the nearly complete Sports Hub which includes three Pickle Ball courts, dance studio, billiards, 3D golf simulator as well as a messy arts studio and a function space, bar and kitchen.

At the birthday bash, Merryl Costin, who is one of the original homeowners Jo-Anne welcomed a year ago to the exact date, said she has enjoyed every moment.

“Settling in was easy with such friendly people around. It’s been exciting to watch the development from a bare block transform into the fantastic facilities we have today,” says Merryl.

“Being single at Promenade isn’t an issue – the community is very inclusive. Living in an over 50s resort is all about attitude.

“The majority of people come here to have a happy and fulfilling life. Having a chat, enjoying the spa, in the Wellness Centre also going out for coffee or lunch, are just a few of the activities to enjoy at Promenade.”

In attendance at the birthday party were many Halcyon homeowners – some who have been here from the beginning and others who are just unpacking their boxes.

Rich and Deb Haddock, who just moved in a few days before Promenade celebrated its first birthday, have glowing first impressions.

"It's been busy but brilliant," Deb says.

"It's fantastic to join in celebrating such an awesome milestone.    

"We've been travelling since we sold our house last October and moving here has been so exciting. Creating a new lifestyle and space is a great new adventure."

"With wonderful, lovely people," Deb added.

Looking forward, Deb and Rich are eager to dive into community life.

"Having a community of like-minded people around and the chance to join different groups is fantastic. It feels like a big family."

To new homeowners, Merryl offers heartfelt advice: "Take a walk, join happy hour and start chatting. Explore the local area — there’s so much to see and do. You’ll quickly feel right at home."
