Homeowners bring a taste of aloha to Pimpama.
An enthusiastic group of Stockland’s Halcyon Greens’ homeowners donned their finest tropical clothes for a perfect evening of pickleball or pukaball as they call it on Maui.
Stockland Halcyon’s in-house pickleball coach and guru Keith Bing travelled down from his home in Noosa to run a series of fun games and drills before the inaugural Halcyon Greens Championships kicked off.
Keith said the sport was really starting to take off, and while we don’t know official numbers from Australia, the numbers from a recent report in the US are a good indication.
“There are now almost 3.5 million players in the United States, according to the 2020 Sports and Fitness Industry Association (SFIA), in what is perhaps the world’s fastest growing sport,” he said.
Stockland Halcyon are the pioneers of pickleball in Australia, building the country’s first court at Halcyon Glades in Caboolture.
Boasting eight floodlit courts, Stockland’s Halcyon Greens has more purpose-built pickleball courts than any other sporting facility or community designed for over 50s in Australia.
