Our Australian climate means a stunning, outdoor setting for your baby shower is appropriate no matter what time of the year your celebration is held. While indoor baby showers are intimate and sweet, opting for an outdoor shower is a lovely option to consider.

Not only will you up your Vitamin D intake, but you can spread the party out and make the most of a larger space. Host your baby shower in a nearby park if there’s one conveniently close to you, or in your backyard if it’s large enough.




A bohemian theme will suit most mums-to-be and is a beautifully gender-neutral theme to honour the baby, regardless of whether she’s expecting a little prince or princess. Start by laying out a few base rugs underneath a shady tree—jute rugs are great for grass. Make the area comfortable using cushions and ottomans. You can stick to a colour scheme, or mix and match to cultivate a perfectly undone, welcoming vibe. 



Add a few tables low to the ground to rest drinks, flowers and candles on. Complete the setup with a few beautiful macramé hangings from a tree, fence or even a balcony if that’s more appropriate for your space. Bring in some pot plants for additional greenery and make sure to add a chair for the mum-to-be. If she’s in her third trimester of pregnancy, sitting on the ground all day may be uncomfortable, and offering a chair will make it easier for her to get up and down in order to greet and farewell guests (or make her way to the food table).
